We got the call!!!!!

We are busy packing and buying last minute things like cabbage and potatoes and eggs cause tomorrow we head out for our month in the yurt!!!! We are so excited...just have so much on our minds like what we should bring and what it will be like!!!! I'm sure it will be one of the best months of our lives though... The above picture shows what we'll be living in for the next month... I'm hoping I have a talent for cooking over a fire:)

We still aren't out at the yurt... Hoping that Kongor-ool or his nephew will be calling us very soon to arrange bringing us out there. but it could be a while yet... we just don't know.
Today we kept busy by babysitting for our friend Era. Her oldest son Aideer is almost 7 and her youngest (another son) just turned 1. Norbu is so so so so cute. and content. It was so fun to spend the day with the two boys- talking to them in a mix of Tuvan, Russian and English as Aideer knows a little bit of English, we know a little bit of Tuvan but we all know a good amount of Russian:) They were very easy to look after- we hope we can do it again. When Era and Aidash (and the boys) were over for supper on Sat. night, Era was telling us about how difficult it is to get all the back to school medical checks etc. done for Aideer having no one to take care of the boys so we thought why not us! Especially during this time when we are just waiting to head out to the yurt. We are so glad to have friends like them that trust us- we feel so priviledged to be able to help them out a little bit. Norbu was wearing (under a few other layers) the Canada onesie that we sent them from Canada when he was a few months old. Maybe someday they will get to come to Canada- they really really would love to.

School starts tomorrow! We will just be doing homeschooling for now as we can't find any places that can take Emma yet but we'll check after we return from the yurt. Maybe after school starts they will realize they have more spots available or something. Emma really really wants to go to Russian school (in addition to homeschooling). She actually cried when we told her she couldn't get in to the school here...We are thrilled that she is that brave and that she loves the idea of going even though she can't speak the language very well etc.. SO we will keep trying... we should have organized it all sooner as the schools get full by the middle of the summer- we didn't expect that. we'll know for next year right!! :)

We haven't asked about the boys yet- they probably wouldn't mind it but they aren't wanting to like Emma. if she gets in I will probably pursue it as then I could have the mornings to do some more serious studying or something.
Kenya had an eventful day- she started playing fetch and she also had her first meal of normal puppy food. We found some Pedigree puppy food (both canned and dry) that say from 1 month on.. so we figured it was safe for her and she LOVED it. She still wants her bottle of milk but I think at least one meal a day will be more meaty now at least. Seems she digested it ok too. It was fun watching her eat on her own. SHe's getting so grown up:) She is pretty crazy right now though- full of life like a puppy should be. Biting, chasing, starting to bark a bit. not the sleepy cuddly kenya that she used to be... but much more fun:)Unfortunately Kenya isn't the only little critter in our house... we have a mouse problem... yuck. do dogs catch mice like cats? or do we need to get a cat too!?!? We'll update as soon as we hear any news about the yurt. We are really looking forward to it!
